It’s a question we’ve been asked many times, and it’s a question that keeps getting harder to answer. This order is liable to change on an almost daily basis, but right now our top five are:
- 5. GREEN TREE we’re really impressed with their comprehensive range of teas from around the world at competitive prices.
- 4. ADAGIO TEAS
 with their top quality range of loose leaf tea and great teawares, Adagio always have a place in the top five.
- 3. GOLDEN MOON TEA so close to taking the crown, Golden Moon have some top quality teas and a beautiful website to match.
- 2. TEAVANA TEA
 the rising star in tea on the internet as well as the high street, Teavana are adding a touch of class to the tea buying experience.
- 1. GENERATION TEA still our favorite. Not the flashiest of websites, but the tea is of a genuinely high quality and Michael really knows his stuff. You can always rely on good tea from Generation, which keeps us going back for more.
So Generation are still number one, but for how long? If we remember (you may have to remind us!) we’ll revisit this topic in the future and see how our opinions have changed, if at all.

 We’ve recently tried a few offerings from Green Tree Coffee & Tea and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their teas. They’ve got a classic range with fine examples of many of the great tea staples from China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
We’ve added Green Tree’s Tea Selection to Buy Tea Online and can recommend that you take a look. In particular, their Darjeeling FTGFPO1 Black Tea, probably India’s most famous tea, is excellent, as are the Jasmine Pearls, whilst the China Magnolia Oolong Tea is very good value for such a high grade. The whole range is worthy of exploration.

You may have noticed that it’s now a little easier to browse the products on Buy Tea Online, but you might not realize why. Well, here’s the answer: we’ve standardized the size and shape of all the thumbnail images across the site, which definitely makes it easier to scan the grid of items in rows or columns.
 That’s the first of many improvements we plan to make at Buy Tea Online, as we aim to be the most useful tea comparison website on the Internet. We want to make it easier to browse for products, but also easier to really compare them. Here are a few things we’re planning on improving:
- Throughout, we’ll be adding more products from quality online tea retailers.
- We’ll be adding existing and new products to multiple categories so that they appear in the right places when browsing by category as well as when searching by keyword. For example, a Rooibos Chai Tea will appear in both the Rooibos and Chai categories.
- We’re aiming to give a weight of each loose leaf tea, and a number of teabags for each pack, at the thumbnail stage, making it easier to see what you get for the price.
- We eventually want to develop a system that calculates the price per ounce/kg of each loose leaf tea and price per teabag of each pack of teabags for the ultimate side-by-side comparison. Stay tuned for that one, it’ll be massive!
All of these things are perfectly possible but with so many different products, manufacturers, countries, currencies and so on, the task of unifying a single system is a fraught one at times, so please bear with us… we’re working on it…
